Back in June we released an update on where the studios were at with various projects, and today I want to take some time to go over some of the exciting developments within the studio. Firstly, again we want to thank everyone who supported our first published game, dotMatch (yes, name change incoming), alongside the developers at Unlucky Magician. It has been going amazingly well and we can’t wait to see it grow more, but now it’s on to the big news. Gun/Mode will be fully playable at PAX AUS 2019!
“Promo art for Gun/Mode, all art is subject to change”
Gun/Mode is a couch split-screen multiplayer game from the era of Halo, Time Splitters, and Call of Duty. The team here at Salty Studios has such fond memories of those split-screen games against friends in which you battle for supremacy. More importantly, the team has even better memories of those games in which you can mess with the settings to make your own unique experiences. It’s here where Gun/Mode stands, a multiplayer shooter in which you can tweak modifiers to make each game unique.
Built as an original counterpart to Lawson’s Shadow with the Salty Studios 2 team, the multiplayer aspect of the game went through numerous changes to the point upper management looked at it and said “if it’s fun for us, it’s fun for everyone” and looked at developing the idea forward from what was planned originally.
“Early mock up of the test level, the PAX demo will feature 6 modifiers and 3 maps to play with”
As always for us, trade shows are about feedback; it’s the best way to get multiple hands on an early build of the game for us to build upon. We want to know what you think, what you want, and most of all how you wanna play. You’ll be able to find us over at Stand 44 in the PAX Rising section of expo.
So with that out of the way what else is on the cards for Salty Studios and Unlucky Magician? Well, we are happy to confirm a new title from Unlucky Magician is on its way, a little bit more of a passion piece and aimed at a unique audience, but something we are very much in support of. They are working tirelessly on various different things so we are eager to get these games in the hands of the masses.
The Lawson’s Shadow team are working hard on chasing down the true vision of what they feel Lawson’s Shadow can be, and for those who have followed the development of the game, they are well aware that we have a huge devotion and drive for this game and want to make sure it is at the standard we deem acceptable by all those involved.
It’s been amazing seeing the teams grow, their dreams become realities and the backing and support of some many incredible people, groups and industry veterans.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this, see you at PAX and if not you will hear from us soon.
