The 45th iteration of Smash at Guf concluded on Thursday. Instead of only having at Smash for Wii U tournament, a tournament for Pokken Tournament and Street Fighter V was also run.
Smash 4 Results
1st. Trucks (Ryu)
2nd. Kharn (R.O.B, Ike)
3rd. SS| Chins (Mario, Olimar)
The 3rd tournament of the year for Smash 4 was won for the third consecutive time by Trucks. Kharn yet again pulled off a consistent performance with second, and Chins received a 3rd place.
In an unsuprising turn of events. Trucks won his 3rd tournament of the year. His performance was at a higher caliber compared to everyone else, with wins over Becslookalike, Chins and Kharn (x2). His run was made even better by the fact he didn’t drop a single game the whole tournament. If he keeps this up, he could win ever single weekly for January
Most Improved: SS | Chins
Chins had an amazing run, with wins over MaxKING, Ace, Tezz and Gerald. His performance against Gerald was the most surprsing, beating him in the end with Olimar. The solid win over Gerald gave him this award, showing that he doesn’t need just Mario to beat other players. If Chins keeps breaking out this Olimar, he should be getting some consistent placings in the near future.
Gone Missing: SS | Basty
A few mistakes against both Kharn and Tezz led to me getting 9th place, right off of a third place at the last Smash at Guf. Pulling out my Cloud and Greninja, 2 characters I haven’t pulled out since last year, could have been what led to my losses. But close matches with Tezz and Kharn means that I didn’t have the worst run of the event, but a low placing like I got has put me on the spotlight to improve for the next tournament.
